Holiday with your dog
Liguria with a dog – General information for dog owners
Liguria is a wonderful holiday destination for a family holiday with a dog. However, there are certain points which dog owners must take note of when on holiday.
Special beaches for dogs
not allowed on public stone and sand beaches in Italy. They may, however, be taken along to the stone piers or to the rock beaches on the fringes of the bays. During winter, the presence of dogs is more tolerated. More information about dog beaches you can find here. Dogs whose height reaches above the knee are obliged to wear a muzzle when being walked through densely populated areas (in most cases, however, it is enough to lead the dog on a leash if the dog is relatively well-bred and not vicious).
Animal health
The tiger mosquito and other insects which spread diseases like leishmaniasis exist in the area around the Mediterranean Sea, therefore you should have your cat or dog vaccinated in time by the veterinarian. You should always carry the European vaccination certificate along, and your pet animal should be chipped to ease the process of finding it, if it were to run away. It is also advisable to de-worm it before and after the holiday.
Also take care, especially in the case of young animals, that they do not eat poisonous plants, e.g. the commonly occurring species like glycine, oleander, iris, amaryllis, anemones, azalea, philodendron, rhododendron, hortensias, aloe, and many other species. Besides, the dog should not run around unattended in mountain areas, because there are wild boar and poisonous snakes which can harm the sniffing dog. Always make sure you take enough water on your hiking tours and excursions.
Should you need a veterinarian during the holiday, we have compiled for you addresses of the nearest clinics and doctors.

Our holiday domiciles with a dog – How do I find suitable accommodation?
All domiciles which allow pets or dogs to be brought in have got a symbol of a dog in their descriptions. If you are not sure, whether the particular domicile is appropriate for your dog (too many steps, fenced, wild animals in the vicinity, shading, outdoor area, dog beaches, etc.), we recommend that you get in touch with us. We shall gladly advise you.
Bringing of pets is permitted free of charge in most of our holiday domiciles for dogs
However, the domiciles together with their outdoor areas must be left clean on departure. If your dog is used to springing onto sofas and mattresses, you have to protect these from smell, dirt and hair. For this you definitely have to bring along some protective blankets on holiday. Dogs should not be left unattended for long in a foreign environment.
If you would like to bring more than one dog, we request that you inquire with us before hand and inform us of the size or breed of the dog respectively. It is possible that the fee for the final clean-up will rise due to an increase in the amount of basic cleaning to be done. The driveway should also be located within the vicinity of the domicile and it should be possible to park nearby. We always take the trouble to inform you of available parking places separately. BlumenRiviera is looking forward to receiving you and your four-legged companions!
